Best tips to consider when travelling

To understand a place well, try to experience the things that happen there every day.

If you only visit the popular tourist spots during your trip, you won't really see what the place is truly like. You can travel differently by not just being a tourist, but by becoming a traveler. To make this happen, we need to understand and respect the people, their customs, and how they live.

Here are some tips to help you experience the local lifestyle during your next trip. This will make your travel experience more enriching.

Use the public transport system

We know Uber is very comfortable. Taking public transportation can help you learn more about how the people in that place live and what they do, so you can have a unique experience.

Make friends with a local

You can do it outside, at a coffee shop or using an app. This can help you learn about the good things in a place that you may not normally see when you go there to visit.

Learn their Local Language

The best way to make locals happy is by saying hello to them in their language.
Knowing how to say simple things like "hello" and "thank you" can be very helpful. It looks easy, but it works well. If you try hard when you visit another country, the people there will like you more. So, go ahead and try it!
Learn how to say numbers from one to ten.                                                                                                                      Try to understand the directions of left and right. Also, try to learn about the food that is special to that place which you can eat three times a day.
Take some time to learn the language before you go on your trip. Take a little book of normal words with you so that you can read what is written on the menu when you are eating at a restaurant.
Learning the local language helps you find your way around the city. If you get confused, it is easier to seek help.
Take in as much as possible. That's one of the fun things about traveling.

Seize the opportunity of new hosting options available

Consider using local homes as a place to host networks. If you do this, you can meet locals and learn about places that are not just for tourists. This will help you experience more of the city's everyday life. Airbnb is the choice people like the most.

Adopt/Eat like a local

Find restaurants that offer the kind of food that is commonly eaten in the area.
Going to restaurants or cafes to eat can make you happy. This is particularly true when you have reached the place you are visiting. Do you enjoy trying new and unusual foods when you travel? We all like to choose a restaurant. But think carefully before deciding which one to go to. Food that is grown or produced nearby is usually the most delicious. The food is very fresh and comes from nearby places. It tastes really good, and it's usually not too expensive. The food that is sold to tourists and eaten while traveling is usually tasty and fresh. It can be easily recognized by the big and fancy displays outside. These restaurants have all-you-can-eat options, which people like, but they throw away a lot of food. When you eat at a restaurant, you have to pay for your food. Sometimes it can be expensive, but it's usually fair because you are paying for a certain amount of food.

Explore locally

Do not worry if you get lost or don't stick to a plan. You get the best surprises when you don't know they are coming.

Essential apps for traveling as a local

This app can help you connect with people who live nearby and are happy to have you join them for a meal at their table. Eating food at someone's house is good way to learn about their local way of life.  These apps can be used in different countries. You need to pay a little bit of money, but it's cheaper than other places to get food. You can find the option in these apps that allows you to eat with someone who lives close by, have "Private dining" sections. You can discover locals who are happy to have you join them for a meal. Australian women’s football: a century ago they fought for the right to play – and 10,000 people turned out to watch

After secret training sessions in a dimly lit gym, the Reds and the Blues set a crowd record that lasted 96 years The Gabba is better known for hosting Ashes Tests , the Brisbane Lions, and the odd Adele concert . But on 24 September 1921, the Brisbane cricket ground hosted one of the most significant fixtures in Australian women’s football history – the first representative match. The Queensland Football Association (QFA), the tightly clenched men’s state governing body, had taken no small amount of convincing to include women’s teams on their match-day card. However, funds raised from the estimated turnout, newspapers report about 10,000, certainly eased their torment. That would remain a record crowd for a women’s match in Australia for nearly a century, when the Matildas defeated Brazil at a sold out Penrith stadium with 17,000 watching on in 2017. The women got a cut of gate takings too – their £90 share is the first recognised income for women’s football in Australia. Continue...

Should I validate my teen daughters’ concerns, or support their father as a co-parent? | Leading questions

This is a common parenting dilemma, writes advice columnist Eleanor Gordon-Smith . Find a way to hear your daughters without turning this into a proxy-fight Is it more important to validate and empathise with my teens about their difficult relationship with their dad, stepmum and stepbrother; or support him as a co-parent, even though I can see the damage it is doing? I have two teenage daughters, 14 and 16, who have a fractious relationship with their dad and his family. He approaches parenting in an authoritarian way and I can see the negative impact this has on our daughters’ self-esteem and self worth. They are delightful young people and I am very proud of how thoughtful, intelligent and individual they are – the horror stories of parenting teens are not something that I have to worry about and I have an open, respectful relationship with them. Because of this, they often come to me, together and separately, about the problems they have with their dad, stepmum and stepbrother. ...
