One of the players of the Marseille team admitted to having completely disappointed those around him.
In Marseille, we are already starting to assess the 2022/2023 season. We take stock collectively, but also individually. And among the players who have bothered to judge their own work is the Ukrainian Ruslan Malinovskyi.
Malinovskyi criticizes himself
The winger arrived in the Marseille city and he did not meet expectations. Lately, he has even become the target of mockery from fans. The interested party is not fooled, however. He knows he was not up to it. But he’s not giving up. He hangs on and promises to do better next season.
“Marseille is a big club, it’s not easy to win immediately. I can do better, that’s for sure. But I only did four months. Next season, with full preparation and more confidence, I think I will do better,” he said in an interview with AFP.

Malinovskyi recalls that his debut in the Italian league wasn’t great either: “Already when I arrived in Italy, the first 20 matches I had not scored. In the end I made 130 matches, scored 30 goals and gave 25 assists. »
Finally, Malinovskyi said he also has extenuating circumstances, namely the coach’s tactical instructions to follow. “The tifosi want goals, assists. But there is the coach, who asks you something else, and it starts with the defense. If you don’t, the next day he shows you a video with your mistakes, the things you need to improve (…) I think that at OM, I was better in the defensive phase than in the offensive phase. I spend a lot of energy to keep us compact, to follow my player, to defend. In attack it is a little worse. I have to find the balance. »
