The day after this victory once again crowned the Bavarian giant as the best team in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer detailed the reasons which led the club to separate, in the wake of the title, from two of its leaders, Oliver Kahn, director of the club, and Hasan Salihamidzic, its sporting director.
According to Herbert Hainer, Bayern, despite their title, were unsatisfactory: “The season didn’t go as we had hoped. We exchanged ideas with the board of directors and the supervisory board. We saw the warning signs and decided to do a restart for the new season and part ways with Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic”. The German said he spoke with the two men, with a different answer for each: “Things went very well with Hasan, we agreed and he went to Cologne with us. We had the same conversation with Oliver, it was very emotional and we couldn’t part amicably”.
Oliver Kahn hinted at tension with the club in a message posted on Twitterthis Saturday.
Tuchel stays
Regarding the future of Thomas Tuchel, Herbert Hainer was very clear: “We are absolutely convinced by Thomas Tuchel. He is one of the best coaches in Europe, he has demonstrated it in his various positions”. After the end of the match against Cologne on Saturday and obtaining the title of German champion, Thomas Tuchel was quite vague about his future: “At first, I’m here”.
Recruited in March 2023, the former Dortmund and PSG coach is under contract until 2025 with Bayern and will lead the team next year.
