He had won every service game in the tournament, a feat achieved by just eight men at this level before him. The ease with which he brushed aside all nine break points against him reflected his confidence. It took two return games for Jannik Sinner to viciously drag the Czech back down to earth. Jim Lovell, Apollo 13 commander, dies aged 97

Nasa hails Lovell for saving 1970 moon mission from ‘potential tragedy’ and safely returning crew to Earth

James “Jim” Lovell, the commander of Apollo 13 who helped turn a failed moon mission into a triumph of on-the-fly can-do engineering, has died. He was 97.

Lovell died on Thursday in Lake Forest, Illinois, Nasa said in a statement.
